Background
The Orr's Island Cemetery Association, Inc., on an irregular schedule over the past few decades, produced a music and food festival at the foot of the hill on Lowells Cove Road, Orrs Island. This has proven to be quite popular and helps provide funds for us to use in cemetery maintenance. On the 28th of July, 2018 we did it again. This note is to publicly thank the team of OICA members, their families and friends who organized and staffed the event. Volunteers provided special skills, hours of labor and material. Over 50 volunteers joined in making this event a great success. Thanks are also due to the sponsors that contributed so generously. Without their help we could not produce these events as we now do. A special thanks goes out to Earl Bigelow of Watersong Music who organizes the music for our events.

There were five bands in the 2018 show. Cilantro - great hits from today and fifty years ago. The Scott Davis Swing Band - big band sound from the age of swing. Jimmyjo and the Jambol'Ayuhs - Cajun style music. Earl Bigelow and the Motown Affair - a marriage of motowtn and blues. Also for the first time in our show the band Rock Weed - classic rock.
The crowd began to gather as the music started.
The taco truck, normally found on the Mall at Brunswick, served a tempting array of Mexican style food.
By dusk the crowd had grown. Several hundred folks enjoyed the food and music in spite of showers. The music and dancing was still going strong at the close of business, 11 PM.
The Scott Davis Band plays music from the "Swing" era in the 1930s and 1940s. It is the kind of music that makes even non-dancers begin tapping their feet.
By about 8 PM The space between the old store, where drinks were being served, and the stage was pretty much elbow to elbow.
Earl Bigelow and the Motown Affair is described as a marriage of motown and the blues. The group closed the show and had a hard time getting off the stage. The dancers kept demanding one more song. It was a rousing close to an evening of good music, good food, good fun and pesky rain showers with thunder in the distance.
